Stonewall
Stonewall is Europe’s most prominent LGBT+ charity but after 10 years without a campaign, their iconic message of “Some people are gay get over it,” wasn’t representative of the problem anymore. Hate crime against LGBT people had increased by 78% since 2013, so they didn’t need people to “get over,” the LGBT community, they needed people to stand up and support them.
My solution was, “Come Out For LGBT,” a giant rallying cry to tell the silent allies of the LGBT+ community that we need them to come out and show their support.
#ComeOutForLGBT became the top trending topic on UK Twitter and gained a tonne of organic support from celebrities and the general public alike. It was supported by Russel Brand, JK Rowling, Man United, Overwatch, the British Army and thousands of others.
It even led to the creation of an Alexa Skill that debuted at LGBTQ+A at Cannes 2018. This allowed people to ask their Alexa, “how to come out for LGBT,” and get simple, relevant advice about their own sexuality.
