Many years ago I wrote, “a view from the bottom,” for Campaign. A very naive first look at the world of Advertising and what goes into the day of a Junior Creative.
A few years later, I was thinking about writing some kind of advertising blog and someone said to me, “What if you did the opposite of that Campaign thing you wrote? Why not say all the stuff that we can’t say about advertising and write in your own tone of voice.”
So, for a short while I wrote a blog framed as, “Advertising Anonymous, how to fix advertising from the bottom up.” This lasted until my then boss, the legendary Jim Thornton, gave me two bits of typically insightful advice.
“Writing negatively about something is easy and solves nothing.”
“How are you ever going to get credit for what you write if it is anonymous?”
I stopped writing the blog shortly after and started writing about my passions in an attempt to be more productive. However, I do think I made some good points, (however bluntly), so feel free to click on the gif to the left and read some slightly sweary opinions on the world of advertising from my 22 year old brain. It’s the stuff below the video games articles.
